Piggyback Forklift

Piggyback Forklift

Now comes a new innovation that offers the same, plus more, delivery options with the forklift being mounted on the fifth wheel tractor instead of the trailer. This greatly expands the benefits of owning a forklift because the tractor can haul any kind of ball or pintel hitch trailer and still have the forklift on board for use at the job site.

Home Placement

The new delivery option uses a ball mounted on the forklift. When the forklift is used to move a ball or pinto hitch trailer, as small as a utility trailer or as large as an 85' long mobile home, you have a 300-degree turning radius. This option is invaluable at many job sites but particularly useful at modular home sites and communities.

Save Time

When parking a home on a site with the forklift, you save time – sometimes requiring as little as fifteen minutes versus four hours compared to using a tractor. The wide tires on the forklift help protect grassy areas.

Get In Tight Places

Using the forklift for either parking a home on a site or removing one makes the operator's job much easier. It provides high ground clearance to clear water, sewer, tie downs, utilities and concrete piers. It also maneuvers around trees, bushes, mailboxes and signs.

Extra Uses

Whether you are looking to save time and money at your manufactured home community or want to offer your customers other services, the forklift is highly efficient. It can also assist with tip outs, slide outs, and awnings on mobile homes.

General Truck or Trailer Requirements:

Axles

From the rear of the truck or trailer's back tire, to the end of the bed, the minimum dimension is 36". The maximum dimension is 48".

Height

The minimum distance from the ground to the bottom cross members of the trailer bed is 48". The minimum recommended distance between the front tires and the ground is 11". The minimum clearance between the rear tire and the ground is 18".

Bed – Structural

Bedside and rear cross members: minimum C6 x 10.5 pounds per foot. Bed cross members: minimum S4 x 7.7 pounds per foot, 10-12" center to center.

ICC Bumper

This affects trailers (not trucks) manufactured after 1-26-98. When the Piggy Back forklift is dismounted, a bumper needs to be in place.

Electrical

Tail, clearance and identification lights should be mounted as high as possible. This is necessary to give the Piggy Back forklift maximum clearance when mounted, and meet the minimum specifications. The taillights should be mounted no wider than 54", outside edge to outside edge.

Piggyback lights

Via a pigtail the rear lights of the Piggyback Forklift are activated.

License Plate

The license plate bracket and light must be mounted such that they are clearly visible when the Piggyback isn't mounted.
